British Women Trying to Stop Lap Dances at Business Meetings
We knew that whole bit about the English being "sexually repressed" was just a load of hooey, but who knew British blokes regularly hold business meetings in London's lap-dance clubs?
Turns out, getting that Powerpoint waxed is "widespread" and "increasingly normal."
While a little distraction might be a good way to grease the wheels and get a deal done, a British women's group won't have any of it.
The Fawcett Society released a report calling the practice sexist, and the group demands it be stopped. Fawcett Director Katherine Rake said, "Within a business context, women's bodies being exposed is demeaning and degrading.... It is time for women and men to stand up against the sexist culture of objectifying women that has gripped our society."
All we can think is: If only some of those redcoats had brought strippers to the Boston Tea Party, that whole Revolutionary War might have gone very differently.
Question raised: Do you think American strip joints get as much play from buttoned-up, midwestern businessmen -- or is the "problem" more widespread in Britain?
